Gentle are the sounds of this album, that came to me easily in my dark and quiet room at night, on naked rocks surrounded by rushing waterfalls, in between careful footsteps on a narrow path through the woods, and shooting fireworks amongst stars on a New Years eve.
They reached me through the piano at my parents house in Vienna, where I was born, the vibraphone in a secret trailer in Rimouski, the trombone at the beginning of a friendship, the instruments created on my laptop one night, coming alive early the next morning, and of course my oldest companion: my magic silver flute.
Through the company of all these vibrations, the courage grew in me and this album represents what came from it. For me it means jumping in cold water, moving between continents, putting one step in front of the other, and creating, releasing sound that radiates into the world.
It also carries with it all the places I have visited, each one present as a smell that has its home in only that unique place in the world - the high alpine forests of Austria, the deep and resilient woods of Quebec.
